Street Series Artist Statement

For 6 years I lived in the Printer's Row neighborhood of Chicago. I would often go for walks nearby in the Loop, looking at all the people bustling by. Lawyer, businesswoman, tourist, student, artist. Rich, poor, yuppie, homeless. We barely saw each other as we rushed past. This series is about that experience of walking downtown and all the people traipsing through my extended neighborhood. It's of dodging, glancing, ignoring; of looking but not seeing. It's of spotting a glimpse of red, of catching someone's eye,
of walking among thousands, and, however fleetingly, noticing a single face.
